As far as Alan Halberstadt is concerned Old Walkerville stays. This reported in Saturday's Windsor Star:
"As far as I'm concerned, anybody who's e-mailing me about it, I'm telling 'em it's dead and buried," said Halberstadt on Friday.
The new label for the area created an uproar this week after a progress report on Windsor's 2007-2010 Community Strategic Plan talked of rebranding some city places. But Halberstadt said the "Distillery District" phrase ended up in the report because of "a lack of communication," and Walkerville people have already decided it's a no go.
Let's watch for the official announcement.

If Kirwood wasn't interested in politics he wouldn't be Mayor would he? Why not post politics thats special to Walkerville, like the naming thing here and Kirwood could start another blog for Windsor politics? I want MOM stuff thats happening right here. Hello to new neighbours, goodby to folks that have to move (sigh) What about winterising tips, fall sweep the street, the next neighbourhood bar potluck, things like that?

We've all been at this cross road once before. Alan says "as far as he's concerned" but we haven't heard any word from other councillors or seen an official position from the city or BIA. So...Did they really give up on the notion? Don't let your guard down.
...and Imeson Antiques is opening in the Posteroptics building with a tenant above.
Little late to respond but it isn't it ironic that after the big BRANDING PUSH that Walkerville Brewing Company is under recievership. Where would that have left the "Distillery District".
