Is Central Windsor Going to be Overwhelmed with Noise Pollution?
If you were up in the wee hours these past couple of weekends or if you were out cueing in the backyard the last couple of Sundays you may have heard some noise. A steady, hum and whine that seems annoyingly endless. If so, what you heard was the testing of Windsor's new co-gen plant which is in it's final stages of construction. It is an extension of the Ford Generating station between Riverside Drive and Wyandotte Streets just east of Drouillard Road. See this link:

The noise from this operation could be heard as far away as Howard Avenue to the west, Pillette Road to the East and Tecumseh Road to the South. The big question remains: Is this noise just temporary because the co-gen plant is still not complete or is the big noise going to be giving Windsorites headaches for years to come? Maybe there is some accoustic attenuation and sound cancellation technology which is not in place yet. Perhaps our Councillors from Wards 3 and 4 could look into this for us.

Let's hope they'll do something to mute the sound. I've been aware of it for quite awhile...
Thanks for posting this. I was wondering what that sound was! Hopefully this is not going to be on-going - we have the right to silence.
