Weekend Camping in Wheatley Still a Best Kept Secret

If you are looking for something different to do on a weekend then Wheatley Provincial Park is a good choice. The natural setting is as good as most provincial parks and the wild life is plentiful and and spectacular.
This author recently took his one year old camping for a week and was quite impressed. Forest cover is good and the marsh is teaming with all sorts of animals. Storks, ducks, bull frogs, coons, turtles, muskrats and tons of birds. It has good hiking trails, a lush marsh and miles of good, private beach. The daytime is definately for the birds. The air is full of rich song and griping from all species. The night time sounds are huge with bull frogs supplying the back beat and storks doing their territorial griping. Lots of fights in the marsh too. A bump in the night would be small potatoes.
If you don't feel like making your own grub you can always head into town for a good breakfast experience at "Jacks Coffee House" (attached to the car wash and chiropractic clinic). Lots to do and only 40 minutes away. Highly recommended for a quick, inexpensive camping experience.
