Walker Road Eyesore a Danger to Pedestrians, Kids

This twisted mess has been sitting unattended for too long. Going on one year now. It will probably become a landmark for Windsor as we know the Google Car Cam was roaming around this area a couple of weeks ago. It took one week to demolish and clear the Seagrave site, three days to drop and clear the Bank of Montreal and it looks like even less time to raze and dispose of the old Howitt dealership. So whats up with this mess? A Gordian knot of brick, beams and burned out machinery and cars, it is spilling over onto sidewalks. Kids are starting to explore the site which is an unstable heap at best. Why is it not cleared out? Who is responsible? Why do Windsorites and visitors have to look at it day after day? Who is sitting on their hands here? Does anybody know?

If it stays that way much longer that pile will qualify for heritage status in its own right.

Thank you, Peter, for continuing to bring such heinous actions to our attention. I'm more and more aware of just why our beloved Windsor is down in the dumps! The careless stupidity of some people who have the wherewithal to influence decisions that bring us down just bewilders me.

I am assuming the delay is because of the arson accusations on the shoulders of one of the co-owners and I'm sure their insurance pay-out is playing a role.

However, arson sure down't seem to hold up the clean-up of other sites, does it?

I cringe whenever I drive by this mess. It is absolutely disgusting to look at. Plus I agree with the Mayor of Monmouth that it does seem quite dangerous, and seems to be getting worse by the day. I sure hope that the Google car didn't photograph this, but it probably did. What a disgrace. So sad, so sad. I hope that the arsonist goes to jail, but that before he does he is forced to perform about 1000 community hours cleaning up the mess HIMSELF with his own BARE HANDS!! That is how they should punish convicted arsonists - make them clean up the mess themselves!

Windsor didn't USED to have Detroit-style ghettos. Now we do.

I think Chris is right. It has probably got something to do with the pending arson hearings and the insurance payout. However couldn't a temporary fencing be installed, a la a construction site, to at least block the view and dissuade the curious?
