BIA OK with "Walkerville"

Board members of the BIA agree that Walkerville Business Area stays the same. Stakeholders agree that they need to keep working on a strategic plan for the promotion of the area on a grander scale. The City has removed the tag: "Distillery District" from their web page. See here:

More information coming next week.
See you out there.

Now there's some serious wisdom.

There are several blogs addressing issues in Windsor in recent times. I believe it is time that the public interest start to have a face. Surely there are people in this City that could set up a Legal Action Fund to deal with any outrageous matters such as Conflict of Interest of Public Officials. Should such a fund be established I would make the suggestion that the relevant blogs provide linkages to such a Legal Action Fund to make it possible to secure the resources necessary to take on taxpayer abuse in the courts. This is the 21st Century and the days of petitions and protest are over, the executive and legislative arms of government need to meet the judicial!

Kudos to the BIA. I am even impressed that the city removed "Distillery District" from their website. I mean afterall, we are only amoebae to this administration that should keep quiet but keep the money flowing...to them.
So once again kudos to the Walkerville BIA for doing something that should be a no-brainer.

What a shame. This decision proves that Windsorites (and Walkervillians) lack knowledge of municipal spin-doctoring.

Who wants to visit 'The Walkervile Business District'? Yawn. How boring. We ARE the distillery district! Why not take pride in the fact that most of the big houses that anchor this neighbourhood (and the ones on Monmouth) were built with whiskey money? Why not promote that instead of claiming that five stores and a funeral home on Ottawa street (an absolutely PATHETIC strip) constitutes a Business District. If you thought that 'The Distillery District' was a bad name, YOU are the problem with this suffocating cesspool we call Windsor.

Hasn't anyone ever heard of the Meatpacking District in New York? Or Gastown in Vancouver? The names of these places stick-out, and invite discovery. Instead, the city, and the fools who voted against the name, have simply pulled us back into tepid mediocrity.

The fact is, that until we get rid of the trucks, the factories, the idiots who rev their engines all night, and the scummy men with beer cases on their handlebars, Windsor will always be considered the runt of the litter. Windsor was never meant to be a metropolitan hub. You've all proven this by voting against a step in the right direction.

Dude;
The Whiskey Barons Named it Walkerville; not the Distillery District. Get a clue. Moot anyway because the name "Distillery District" is copyrighted. Cannot be used.

Distillery District. Hmmmm. Nothing like stating the obvious. Kinda like calling a guy with no clothes Naked Guy. Leaves everything to the imagination. How clever.

To Truth,
More than five new businesse's are slated to open before the end of this year. That makes 10 stores and climbing. The Walkerville BIA is doing what it is supposed to; soliciting new business. If you don't patronize any of the local businesses, how would you know?

P.S...Are you talking about Ottawa Street or Wyandotte? You mention Ottawa in your comment. Maybe your confused.

To the truth.

Why not call us Brick Town, or maybe
Soho? Yes lets just copy some other Cities identity.

Many of the areas you claim are branded were know by the names provided long before there was any marketing involved.

This area has been know as "Walkerville". Why reinvent the wheel?

There is a Letter in todays Windsor Star "Neighbours Help To Care For Aging Parents". I know there are some good people on Monmouth that have done many things for some of the elders on the block. They should be thanked for their generous caring.

To KING ME and Wilhelm: Sorry guys; a brand really has to be earned otherwise it's just empty packaging.
