Tomorrow is the big day. Windsorites can scratch one road project off of the City's "Honey Do" list. The railroad overpass East of Walker Road has been removed and the divit in Wyandotte has been levelled. No more foot torquing at Wyandotte and Walker.
In recent weeks traffic has been noticeably absent on Wyandotte, west of Walker Road. Local store keeps in Old Walkerville have noticed a significant dip in patronage over the past couple of months. Some have guestimated about 20%. Although the grading and pavement has been completed for some time now, the big project has been the maintenance to the overpass at Drouillard. Cement repairs, sandblasting and painting have brought the structure back up to speed as you can see above. This is the first time that any such significant maintenance has been done to this bridge in over 50 years. It's been black, rusty and crusty for a long, long time.
So... residents of Riverside and East Windsor. Enjoy your detour free ride into town tomorrow. Better yet, why don't you stop by the Old Walkerville Restaurant, Taloola's or the Velvet for some delicious breakfast, a newspaper and a cup of joe. On your way home try some of our unique gift shops or join a high end gym. Old Walkerville is open for business.
P.S...Wouldn't it be cool if the missing dedication plaquard found it's way home.

Huzzah! Nice to see it is completed. Now if only Ford City was as clean looking as Walkerville.
so far this morning i still see the detour signs up on wyandotte at strabane, so not sure when it will happen. hopefully some time today. i can see and hear crews and machinery tearing down parts of the ford foundry today too.
As of 5:00 PM not yet. Must be a city hall schedule.
...They could have painted the railing at the top of the bridge. Would look much nicer and more complete. Click on the picture to enlarge it.
City of Windsor. Where things get done...eventually and usually NEVER on time.
Just drove by today and it looks like it's finally opened up again!! Yippy!!
