It was only a matter of time. The WUC/Enwin 86% rate hike fiasco has now spilled over into the provincial arena. Both Sandra Pupatello and Dwight Duncan didn't just fan on the issue; they positioned themselves squarely in the camp of WUC/Enwin and the Windsor City Council. Without consulting or listening to their voting constituents who have wanted a full forensic audit from the Auditor Genereal of Ontario, they chose to pull favour for their chums on city council by going with what is now known as "Audit Light". This audit is only a financial audit and will not uncover anything which hasn't been divulged already. Council, and now these two provincial representatives, have gone out of their way to quash a full investigation. Until now, the only politician to date who wants to give the public what it wants is Alan Halberstadt but he has been literally wristlocked and blackballed by the rest of his colleagues.
Residents of the Windsor-West riding now have a voice in the matter. Lisa Lumley who is running against Sandra Pupatello in the current political election has recognized the public outcry over the WUC issue and has already held a press conference in which she demanded the full audit. See here:

In the mean time, a new citizens action group called "WeACT" (Windsor Association of Concerned Taxpayers) has already staged one press conference questioning conflict of interest issues amongst Council members who are connected to the WUC and they are also demanding a full investigative audit with appropriate terms of reference. WeACT is holding another press conference on Wednesday at the Junction. Blogger Chris Schnurr will be the speaker. Here are a couple of links for more background information:

It completely amazes that local politicians are going against the fabric of their own constituents with such zeal. Why are they so afraid? Their behaviour certainly suggests that something truly is very, very wrong. An audit by the Auditor General may or may not reveal any wrong doing but taxpayers want to clear the air one way or another. Is it so hard for their elected officials to understand this? A simple statement to make it happen is all that is needed by the Mayor and Council. Why don't they do that one little thing for the voters who once had faith in them?
Unfortunately they feel it is a select group that wants the audit.
I think a mass email campaign to our councilors may be in order. Lets flood their in boxes with our requests. A standard statement should be sent to the masses and a request for everyone to email the statement to their councilor with their name and address.
