The Wickersham brothers are listening in but they can't hear a thing, not the noise of a falling pin. All citizens of Who-ville are playing their part. This time keeping silent because that's just smart. Gord and Chris are listening down for the slightest sound of Whos election bound.
Gord Henderson and the Windsor Star are trolling. Polling if you will. As emphatic as he is about our brilliant mayor's golden rule of not tipping his hand until the start of "silly season" he can't help himself. There must be reasonable doubt pervading from the Mayors office about his worship's handle on Who-ville.
As Windsorites clearly read from his latest columns, Henderson is trying to flush out any and all mayoral prospects. He is doing this to help his hero and incumbent Mayor Eddie Francis gauge the field if only to plan a third term election strategy. Gord doesn't care anymore if his readers are onto him; he's just letting it all fly. His semi-detachment from the Windsor Star is beyond the reach of reader comments as he writes veiled at g_henderson61@yahoo.ca Only those opinions that support his mission will reckon. Every one of his columns from now until election time will mention the 101 day civic strike because he does not want that public gash to heal. Gord's flailing takes no prisoners. He assails Eddie bashers, naysayers, bloggers, learned types with impressive diplomas and crystal balls and near-dysfunctional, faction-ridden city council members. Everything scribed from now on will force-feed the question: "If not Eddie, who?"
Mr. Henderson purposefully transposes the Mayor's "coyness" with arrogance and "canny politics" with cut-throat politics. "The longer you keep would-be contenders guessing about your intentions, the longer you retain some control over council". This Mayor does not want to leave "a fair and reasonable amount of time for Windsorites to assess the merits of potential successors". In actual fact, what the Windsor Star and the Mayor's office are doing is wrist locking any challengers while keeping council and community bogged down in controversy. And there will be plenty of that in the coming weeks when Francis unveils his to-do list as Mr. Henderson summarizes:

Even in closing Gord gives us one more prod. This time a sullen reminder that if his favourite mayor decides not to run at the end of this term that all of these "pet projects" on his unfinished business list are in jeopardy. "The downside of leaving is that some pet projects don't get finished". Oh well...Of coarse, if Who-ville decides to re-elect Eddie he then will be able to complete each and every one of them. What a saviour!
Henderson's brain is out of joint. He cannot hear. No Yipp and no Yopp. He doesn't know who but the whos in Who-ville do. Talking to dust specs. That is really poo poo. Because in the end a vow is a vow. No matter how small.

Silly season started six years ago and has been buiding up to a crescendo that will hopefully explode and launch this Mayor and the council he likes to put down so much to neverland. The Mayor doesn't get my vote.
I think Mayor Francis is doing a great job and will definately retain my vote

Out of the possible candidates who would anyone vote for?
Francis - polarizing though has set goals and understands the need to change the mentality of residents and our image.
Marra - sits on the fence too much and doesn't really lead. Though a very nice fellow and reaches out. (I still think he is a Hurst lite).
Bacon Man - LMAO.
Who does that leave us? We citizens reap what we sow. Is it any wonder why we have such crappy mayors, councils andn we can never really move forward? We deserve it because we too are all about just getting mine.
Honesty is a big thing. I would never vote for anyone who wasn't honest. I would never vote for someone who thinks there is a difference between people and public. I would never vote for anyone who thinks they are above all others. I would never vote for anyone who shifts blame. I would never vote for anyone who talks down to others. I would never vote for anyone who squnders at will. I would never vote for anyone who facilitates friendly interests. I would never vote for anyone who is not a team player. I would never vote for anyone who smothers opposition with the touch of a button. I would never vote for anyone who raises himself above his peers. I would never vote for anyone who is vindictive. I would never vote for anyone who's way is the only way. I would never vote for anyone that baits and attacks the working class for his own gain.
I will vote for fresh honesty, even if we have to sacrifice total ability for however long it takes to glue this city back together again.
Until this city is unified so we can live up to our mayor's description of us as Multi-cultural and Diverse, it would behoove us to start getting along. Further divisiveness will cause unrest as the citizens or constituents, (not taxpayer- an impersonal name for a resident of Windsor)are full of angst,unease and gloom. No Glory for Windsor is being the worst of most categories for a long time. How about some PRIDE & HONESTY on the Ballot? We'd all vote for that- collectively.
