Parks Department Responds to Super Naysayer

Gateway to Willistead
Stands a Chance

Intersection of Walker and Niagra

Ed Arditti, exalted Blogmeister behind Windsor City Blog, went to bat for Old Walkerville residents. He convinced city authorities that it was time to take care of at least one of their mandatory albeit more mundane obligations; controlling weeds on city property. After all...It's the little things that make a big difference.

So now this path to Windsor's beautiful Willistead Park looks that much more inviting. Tall weeds don't obscure the view into Old Walkerville and visitors to the park won't have any reservation about taking this route.

As one can see by viewing the picture above (click on it to enlarge), the Mediteranean Bakery could also chip in by following suit and bringing down the weeds on the rest of their property. One local resident replied to the last post, rightfully pointing out that Restaurant Garbage should not be adorning the residential neighbourhood along Niagra. It should not be on the City sidewalk seven days a week and it should remain on the restaurant's property until garbage day. Certainly not an appealing brand mechanism for an eating establishment.

Restaurant Garbage on Niagra Sidewalk Seven Days a Week

This is also a perfect opportunity for the City to inexpensively promote Willistead Park and Manor. A simple and cost effective destination sign at the corner of Walker and Niagra would draw more vistors to the gates of Willistead. Something to think about. Where would Windsor be without naysayers? Thanks Ed.

Give the real credit to the Bloggers' "friend" for achieving this result.

Once it was brought to his attention, he acted immediately.

Hmmmm do you think this might be one of the reasons he keeps getting re-elected?

Those of us that frequent Big Tony's (it is a great place after all) should politely ask Big Tony to be a bit more considerate of his neighbours in regards to his trash bins.

It really shouldn't be that much of a stretch for him / his employees to park their bins out of view. Lord knows that place is big enough to hide a garbage truck, let alone a few dumpsters for 6 days every week.

If enough of us ask politely, I'm sure he'll see the folly of his garbage dolly.

Has anyone asked Big Tony's to remove the bins? Anytine I have been there they have been more than cordial. I don't they they will bite the hands that feed them. Just ask them and see where it goes.

Agree. Those bins and garbage containers should be on the same side of the alley as Big Tony's and well out of site. Some of them are probably for the tenants who live on top of the restaurant. Perhaps the landlord is the go-to person. Does anybody know who that is?

Its great that the grass is cut. Now I want to see who paid for it. According to City By-laws the owner of the lot next to the City's Blvd. is responsible for the cutting. I have a Blvd next to me that I wish I didn't have to cut. Is the City going to cut it for me?

The Mediteranean Bakery makes all of their pita bread behind the red alley bay door. Arrghh! I believe that this is the company for which our Mayor recieved his "young entrepreneur of the year" award for. Mmmmmmm...Pita bread.

Thanks Super Naysayer!

The "Bloggers Friend", in case anyone is not up to speed is Alan Halberstadt. That's how he was dubbed/smeared by fellow city councillor Percy Hatfield who, according to himself, is one of the councillors in "the Mayor's loop". Apparently some are not. This all surfaced when Halberstadt mentioned that councillors did not know anything about and were not involved in the downtown canal proposal. Hatfield put it to the Windsor Star this way:

“He(Mayor Francis)tipped us off he was working on a deal, that if you want more information before the news conference to drop in the office,” he said. “I did — most of council was in the loop…”

“…Sure it’s city land that’s been talked about for years, but I don’t have the same concerns as Alan and his blogger friends do,” Hatfield said.

Apparently Hatfield is also a part of the ant-blogger campaign which was also launched by those in "the loop". Maybe we should just refer to the Mayor's office as "the loop" or the "loop portal" and those who are in "the loop" as "Loopers". Those who get sucked in as "Looped".

Thanks for taking care of our boulevard Alan Halberstadt.
Old buddy, old boy.

The big "tip off". Mr. Hatfield better start learning to be a politician and the ward representative he was elected to be or he will get scooped for good.

Alas...Percy has gone pitching. This time "GreenLink". Loopy.

As goofy as Percy can be, remember that he along with the two ward 3 councilors are the only people who voted to save the Bank of Montreal at Walker & Ottawa from becoming the useless gravel lot it is today.

To Andrew:

Anybody could have jumped on that free bandwagon. There was no advance notice and the permits were already out. It was a done deal and Hatfield knew that just like the rest of us. After the Seagrave disaster it was easy to know the publics sentiment. At best..Half a point for the Councillor.
